Description
The purpose of Virginia Beach Lifesaving Service, Inc., is to prevent and to reduce injuries, accidents, and fatalities at the ocean front in its guarded and patrolled areas.

- Practice PREVENTIVE LIFEGUARDING at all times.
- Scan the water and shoreline between adjacent staffed stands.
- Constantly check on adjacent Guards.
- Recognize dangerous situations.
- Alert Supervisors and other Guards of dangerous situations.
- Respond and assist patrons in dangerous situations.
- Give proper first aid when needed.
- Serve as an ambassador of Virginia Beach..
- Maintain your cool and composure at all times.
- Must be 16 years of age.
- Must complete a 500 Meter or 550 Yard Swim in 10 minutes or less.
- Must complete a mile run under 8 minutes & 30 seconds.
- Must complete all training, submit to a background check and complete all paperwork prior to working.
